Facts and Figures:
The Zoo was opened on May 12, 1934. In 1965 the dolphinarium was built and in the same year the first dolphins were purchased. Four years later the first belugas and Commerson's dolphins were imported. Until 2004 only two survived Ferdinand and Yogi, so both were moved to SeaWorld.
The dolphinarium was changed several times and in 2007 the newest version was opened, including a show pool, two holding pools and a maternity pool. The Zoo also kept Amazon River Dolphins, who got a new tank in 2005. Today there is only one survivor of the species.
