In front of many visitors, Bjossa went in labour for the third time and later, she gave birth to another girl. Sadly the baby died within minutes due to a ruptured umbilical cord and sank to the bottom of the tank.

Bjossa quickly swam to her baby and tried to keep it at the surface. The staff left the calf in the pool to allow Bjossa to mourn her death and it took a week before they could remove it.
