About
TekoaMonths
after
Tekoa’s birth, his mother, Taima showed aggression towards
him.
When it
got worse, he was separated from her. There were many attempts to reunite mother and calf but often, the reunion ended up in aggression, so it was decided to permanently separate him from his mother. Tekoa grew up under the great care of Kalina and he
found a friend in Tuar, Kalina’s son. The youngsters were moved to
SWT
when they got older, however, after the transfer, their close friendship
ended as both of them met new orcas and bonded. Now at Loro Parque, Tekoa is doing really well however he is the least dominant orca and is often beaten up by the other orcas. He is a really good performer and is learning new behaviours quickly.
In October 2007, during a warm-up before the show, an incident occoured. Tekoa accidentally hurt one of his trainers and caused many severe injuries to the trainer. Since then waterworks hasn't been done with him and it's not known if he will ever reintroduced to them.
