About Ran
/ ラ
ン Ran
is a young growing member of the orca pod at Nagoaya. She is one of the few
orcas
being born head-first and during her birth, her sisters, Lara and Lovey,
and her father Bingo assisted Stella. She was named in honour of her
parents; her name is a part of Bingo’s and Stella’s
name.
Ran is often by her mothers’ side, but also likes to check out the other parts of the tank and tends to be away from mother’s protective side at times.
In December 2011, Ran was moved for the first time and was on her own for 24 hours after being moved to Port of Nagoya Aquarium and was later reunited with her mother and father a day later.
She is doing well at her new home and is slowly getting used to the new environment.
