About
Ramu IVRamu IV
was captured along with many orcas from the Southern Resident
orca community. Most of them
were relased or escaped, but 7 of them were
kept. All of them went to different Marine parks in the United States,
Europe or Japan. Ramu was the only one who was sent to
Australia.
Ramu was originally destined to the United Kingdom as a mate for Cuddles but when it was discovered that Cuddles was a male, he was sent to Marineland Australia, a marine park which kept an orca before but died a couple months before and they were looking for a new one to replace their "Ramu". Ramu got his name in honour of the first Ramu at Marineland but sadly Ramu didn't survive long, he died just one year after his arrival.
