About
Patches (A18)
On
December 12, 1969, 12 orcas were captured in Pender Harbour. While half
of them were released, six orcas were kept and sold to marine parks.
Patches, was the smallest orca of the group and was moved along with
Corky II and Kenny* to Marineland of the Pacific; the park
already had 2 performing orcas, Corky* and Orky
II*.
Patches joined the show pool with Corky* and Orky II* and after Corky's passing in December 1970, the new Corky II was moved in. All of them got along very well, but in August 1971 Patches died of samonellosis, an infection caused by Samonella bacteria.
