  About Nootka III

Nootka III was caught off Pedder Bay along with Kanduke* in August 1975. LIke Nootka II*, she was supposed to be a mate for male orca Haida* and was immediately sent to Sealand of the Pacific. Both orcas got along well, although they were from pods with different ways of life, Nootka was a Transient and Haida* was a Resident.

Unfortunately she died in May 1976 from an abcess located in her gastrointestinal tract.

 Name Meaning & Blood Type:

- Nootka means "Little Anna" in Inuit and "Circling Around" in Wakashan
- Pronunciation of Nootka: NOO-kas
- Blood Type: 100% Transient

 Family:

It is believed that Nootka originates from the Pacific Transient orca community.
