About
MLP-OO-B8501After
4 pregnancies, Corky II gave
birth again. The baby was a female and immediately swam to the
surface for its first breath. Corky was gentle with her like she was
with her previous calves. Although
she was a good mother, she could not nurse her calves
properly. One reason for this was the tank, it was round and too small,
Corky
could not swim in a straight line, which is essential for suckling orca
calves.
The other problem was the calf. All of Corky calves tried to nurse from her eye patches, instead of the mammaries. Even though Corky was trained to present her mammaries, all attempts failed and the little girl died.
