On October 9, 2010 Katina went into labour with
her 7th calf. After 45 minutes a healthy and big baby was
born. The little one was just born after the park lost
Katina's first daughter Kalina*.
Many people had the opportunity to submit their favourite name to Sea World via Facebook and a selection of names were chosen by Sea world. These names were made into a poll where the public could choose their favourite name.
As Makaio grows, he is becoming more active and often seen with his mother in shows. He often follows the slightly older pod members (Trua, Nalani and Malia) and has begun his training with the trainers.
