About
Kenny
When
12 orcas
were captured on December 11, 1969, three of them (two females and one
male) were purchased by
Marineland of the Pacific. The newcomers probably met
the resident orcas Corky* and Orky II*,
the stars of the park however there are no photos to prove this as of
yet. The
females
were named Corky II and
Patches* and the male was named Kenny.
A new show pool was built just after their arrival and as it was small, only three orcas could live comfortably in the round pool so Kenny was kept in the old orca tank. It was here the male orca was the star of the the movie "A Whale of a Tale" and played "Corky".
Unfortunately Kenny died in May 1972 after catching pneumonia.
Little is known about Kenny.
