About
Kandu III (15)
In
August 1971, 3 orcas were captured off Penn Cove, one male and 2
females. The orcas were immediately sent to Seattle Marine Aquarium
and waited for their next transfer. Both of the femaleswere purchased
by SeaWorld San Diego whilst the male went over to Germany. The females
were named Kona* and Kandu III.
Both
females
soon were the stars of the shows
and
Kandu III was even trained
for waterworks. Sadly In June 1975 she passed away at the age of 7
years.
Little is known about Kandu III however in 2011, pictures of Kandu III at Sea World Orlando during the fall of 1974 were discovered. We (Cetacean Cousins) assume she also died at the park in June 1975, but no confirmation has been found yet.
