About
Ishmael
In
October 1968, five male orcas were captured. Soon after capture they
were moved to their new homes. The biggest males, Ahab and Ishamel
joined the US Navy and were transported to Hawaii. While Ahab lived
there until his death, Ishmael escaped in February 1972. His current
status is unknown, he could be very well alive but it's more likely
that he passed away, yet so little is known about the Hawaiian
population, he may be alive and well.
- Ishmael means "God will listen" in Hebrew
- Pronunciation of Ishmael: ISH-may-el
- Blood Type: 100% Southern Resident
