  About Hyak

Hyak was caught off Pender Harbour in February 1968. He was kept at the harbour for about a year and was unofficially released in February 1969.

Hyak was not radio tagged and no one had seen him after his release so it is unknown if he is still alive.

Hyak's was athought to be a member of the Northern Resident Orca Community however it is unknown which pod he originates from so his family is unknown
