  About Clovis
In August 1970, the biggest orca capture occured. Over 80 orcas were netted and 7 of the orcas were taken from the nets and moved to Seattle Aquarium's holding pool for recently captured orcas.

Here, all 7 orcas waited to be sold on to their new homes and were given basic training. Out of the 7 orcas, one was sold to Marineland Antibes in France. It is not known when Clovis arrived at Marineland but it wasn't look after his arrival he met Marineland's only other orca, Calypso*, a female from the Northern Resident community and had been captured a year before him. Sadly Calypso* died soon after Clovis's arrival, leaving Clovis alone.

He became the star performer and even did some waterworks with his trainers. Unfortunately Clovis died in February 1973 from myositis, an inflammation of the muscle.
