About
BettyBetty was a young orca
captured off the coast of Iceland and was taken to Saedyrasafnid
Aquarium where she awaited her final transfer. Marineland Antibes were
looking for a new orca and she
was purchased.
After she arrived, she met a young male, called Kim*. Both orcas got along well and performed together in daily shows for 4 years. When Kim died in 1982, Marineland bought two other orcas, Freya and Kim II*.
Betty met the two new orcas shortly after their arrival and became friends with them. All three orcas were kept together and performed during daily shows. Sadly Betty died on September 8, 1987; her cause of death is still unknown.
