On April 7th, 2004, Nootka V* gave birth to her 6th calf.  Even though there were tensions between Nootka V* and Kiska, Nootka V*  began to nurse her little daughter.  Sadly, she could not feed her properly and many nursing attempts failed.

The baby passed away before the park opened for its summer season and it is believed she died from malnutrition one month after her birth.
