About Ai / 愛 (O-7)
Ai was a very young orca when captured off Iceland in the fall of 1989.  At the time of her capture, the laws in Iceland were changing and she was one of the last ever orcas to be captured in Icelandic waters.  She was immediately moved to Saedyrasafnid Aquarium where she met three other orcas.

All four orcas were purchased fairly soon after arriving at Saedyrasafnid Aquarium however due to laws that prohibited the capture of orcas, their transfers were delayed. Ai and another female, Ran* were purchased by Nanki Shirahama Adventure World and arrived there in April 1990 and upon arrival, they met the resident orcas, Goro* and Ruka*.

Little is actually known about Ai's time at Nanki Shirahama but it is believed she got along with all the other orcas and often performed during daily shows.

Unfortunately Ai died on August 25, 1995 from Candidiasis.
