 Facts and Figures

SFDK first started as a small camping site at Geauga Lake in 1887.  A year later, a hotel was built next to the lake and then in 1889, the first theme park ride was built, a primitive steam-powered carousel. in 1969, Funtime, Inc. purchases Geauga Lake and began transformation of the park from a local amusement park to a nationally-recognized family entertainment centre. It wasn't until 1999, Geauga Lake changed its name to Six Flags and then it was Six Flags Ohio. In 2001, Six Flags Ohio purchased the land of SWO and renamed itself again to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. In 2002, they obtained their first orca named Shouka who was imported from MLF. In 2004, Six Flags of Ohio bought the old site of Marine World Africa where Yaka, Vigga and Nepo used to live and Shouka moved down to California and this is now where she lives in Shouka Stadium, in Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.
