parque opened in
1972 and then, it was a small
park which only had parrots. In 1978, new species were soon imported
and Loro Parque began to grow. They did not get their first cetaceans
until 1987. Orca Ocean in Loro Parque is a new complex that
was
built in 2005. Work was completed in February 2006 and on February 13
2006,
four
orcas from Seaworld (two from SWF, two from SWT) were transported to
Loro Parque via a Boeing 747. The water within Orca Ocean was
apparently taken 65 m down in the Atlantic ocean.
