Cetacean Cousins started its early days in 2004 as “Ocean Depths” and it focused on providing information on Captive Orcas.
In the summer of 2009, Takulover and Orkamad joined forces to build Cetacean Cousins with the sole purpose to provide extensive detailed information on Captive Orcas, which later started to include any captive cetacean.
Since our launch in September 2009, we have worked tirelessly to try and provide detailed information however often found that technology moved faster than we could get the information online, it was decided in 2021 to scale back to a basic online spreadsheet which people can access and search for information themselves.
This has meant the team can update the information more effectively and to provide facts & figures to help those who are interested in cetaceans.Cetacean Cousins is run by volunteers across the globe and often work on it in our spare time.
This is why it has taken so long for us to get where we are. However we look forward to the next 10 years! and we are still aiming to be the most extensive cetacean database on the web.
